SubscriberHi all.
I have two questions about named user license.
1. How many cores are included in 'Ansys Discovery HPC Add-on License'?
2. Discovery has limit number of cores? What is the maximum number of cores?
Best Regards,
Jugyeong Shin

When licensed for high fidelity solves, the solver license itself allows up to 4 cores to be used. If additional cores are desired, Discovery attempts to acquire the appropriate HPC licenses:
-
For subscription license users, the Ansys Discovery Ultimate CPU Core Extension (disc_ult_cpuext) allows use of additional cores.
Discovery does not request HPC capabilities beyond the number of cores available on the machine. In the event of a shortage of HPC licenses, the solve proceeds using fewer cores, and you will be notified that Discovery cannot obtain HPC licenses.
Regards.

SubscriberHello Devendra Badgujar
'When licensed for high fidelity solves' means Refine Stage, right?
Also, if then, what is the object of 'Ansys Discovery HPC Add-on License(Named User)'?
'Ansys Discovery Ultimate CPU Core Extension for Named User' can take HPC license of floating license?? or only use Named User HPC license?
Best Regards,
Jugyeong Shin

'When licensed for high fidelity solves' means Refine Stage, right?- Yes correct, meaning higher mesh count.
Also, if then, what is the object of 'Ansys Discovery HPC Add-on License(Named User)'?- HPC add-on allows Discovery to pull additional processor core. This add-on enables to access up to 16 local processor cores in total.
'Ansys Discovery Ultimate CPU Core Extension for Named User' can take HPC license of floating license?? or only use Named User HPC license?- For floating license users, the HPC licenses are typically Ansys HPC (anshpc) or Ansys HPC Pack (anshpc_pack) licenses.
And for (Named user)subscription license users, the Ansys Discovery Ultimate CPU Core Extension (disc_ult_cpuext) allows use of additional cores, not for floating.
Regards.

SubscriberThank you for your reply, Devendra Badgujar
I have one more question.
How many cores are contained in a 'Ansys Discovery HPC Add-on License(Named User)'?
You said that the maximum number of core is 16.
If I have just one HPC Add-on License, then can I use 16 cores?
Best Regards,
Jugyeong Shin

Yes the solver license itself allows up to 4 cores to be used and this add-on will enable an additional 12 cores so that you can use 16 in total.
