Natural convection in VOF

      Hello folks,

i am currently building a simulation of a fluid in a small cavity that is heated from the bottom side. I included natural convection by making the density of the water temperature dependend. Now i want to make a VOF in this cavity by describing to zones (water on the bottom, air on the top). The density of air is defined as incompressible-ideal-gas. The whole cavity is heated to 50 degrees. My problem is that the two fluids are mixing so that in the end the cavity is filled with a 50/50 mixture water/air. I do not expect that behavior but i am not sure how i can stop the two fluids from mixing.

Has anybody an idea what i can make different?

If you're allowing the liquid volume to change, but not the gas volume where does the extra water go? I suspect the convergence isn't looking good either?
