Hello,

 

I ran the regsvr32 ThumbnailProvider.dll and ThumbnailHandler.dll. Later i noticed that the local file thumbnail works but not the network (Onedrive) located file thumbnail.

 

Any idea on how to make the network thumbnail work too?

Our development team is investigating whether or not cloud drives support the thumbnail previews.  Initial testing shows similar behavior to what you have reported.

Any update on this? A customer still keeps getting issues with this.

 

We found out that some automatic windows updates are causing this. Deleting the updates makes this work, but the customer doesn't want to delete updates to keep using the SpaceClaim thumbnails everytime.

Example of windows updates that are causing the problem. (there are probably more, but this has to be tested)

Also some customers say that stopping backing up target files (OneDrive settings) and then once they are copied to onedrive, removing local references fixed the issue for them.

I got following reply from the developer:

This is a known (Microsoft) problem with OneDrive service.

If OneDrive is not installed/active, thumbnail preview works fine on network drives. 

(the developer shared one image where the thumbnail preview is working for network drive, but the image can't be shared due to confidentiality)

I’ve seen reports that upgrading Windows to 1903 (or 1909) fixed this issue, cannot confirm though.
