SubscriberUsing spaceclaim 2022R1 from discovery distribution. My license supports dataexchange 1/2. I have linked all .stp, .stl, and .scdoc files to the spaceclaim program. In file manager, if I double click on an SCDOC file, spacelame correctly opens with the file. If I double click on a stp file (and the icon is pointing to spaceclaim), a spaceclaim dialog box opens asking for spaceclaim serial number. From within spacelaim, however, I can directly open the STP file. I don't believe in the current subscription model I had a serial number...if I do, please point me in the right direction. However, I suspect the issue is that dataexchange files linked to spaceclaim have a problem instantiating spaceclaim. Thanks for you help

The information for file / program association is stored in the Windows Registry.
You may be able to resolve this issue by right clicking one of the files and selecting Properties > Open With and navigating to C:Program FilesANSYS Incv221scdm then selecting SpaceClaim.exe.
Regards.

SubscriberI tried that. It doesn't work, as it still asks to register your copy of spaceclaim and ask for a serial number. The link to spaceclaim is not the issue. The issue is that when opening a file type that goes through data exchange via clicking on the file, spaceclaim incorrectly asks for registration. If you open the same file from within spaceclaim there is no issue.

Please can you confirm if you still have SpaceClaim Engineer (Serial number ) license installed on your machine where you are facing this issue.
If that is the case may be uninstalling that version might help resolve this.

Please send me a recent SpaceClaim log file (from the error session). I will check with the team and get back to you with more information.
The SpaceClaim log files can be found in C:Users\User\AppData\Roaming\SpaceClaim\Log Files.
(Sometimes the AppData folder is hidden. To find it, type %appdata% into the file path and press enter)Can you please confirm if these non scdoc files were created in SpaceClaim engineer version ?
