SubscriberHi there,
I am facing a very problem with nonlinear simulation.
The whole boundary settings are simple, and I have attached the file below.
The idea is to focus on the deformation of the 8 flexible beams while the other parts are all set as rigid bodies.
The load is set at the geometric center.
I have refined the mesh, which turns out to be useless. Contact pairs are correctly set up I think.
I would be grateful if you could take a look at the model.
Thanks in advance,
Ke

SubscriberSomething with the rigid body and their contacts - if you use all flexible bodies so no rigid one (rigid is not very realistic anyhow) then it is OK.
Also if the parts are welded then one can use multi body parts in DM or shared topology in SC and the mesh will be connected at their common boundary, so hence no need to use bonded contacts. I would also reset the default settings in analysis settings and use MPC formulate for bonded contacts.

Thanks for your reply.
I've got a mathematical model for this mechanism as well, in which the rest parts other than those flexible beams are all rigid. My purpose is to validate my mathematical model by FEA.
Therefore, if they have to be rigid bodies, what would you suggest?
I've checked the contacts, and they are all fine.

Ke

SubscriberSee the discussion for info on rigid-flexible contacts:
https://forum.ansys.com/forums/topic/surface-contact-between-rigid-and-flexible-bodies/
So redefine/change settings for the contacts and use MPC formulation.
Delete also all of you BC and loads and redefine them.
Finally solve on one core only (this is a very small model no need to solve on many).
Also as I said reset the analysis settings because you have changed them without really knowing what they do.

SubscriberThat works (tried it). I did all changes as mentioned above (for the contacts I chose MPC for all)

SubscriberDid you turn on Large Deflection? The model has to be studied under that.
