Other users can’t access the license server

      We are having trouble setting up our licensing server. I am trying to set it to run on my local PC and have others point to my desktop to checkout a license. I am able to use the licenses, on the machine that has the license server, but others are not able to connect to the license server. The hostname and ports were set correctly on their end.

      The troubleshooting zip is from the machine of another user trying to connect to my license server.

      Staff are not permitted to download attachments, please can you post in-line? As a sanity check, can the other users also "see" your PC?

      I dont know. How can I ensure others can "see" the PC?

      We can't download files from any link, you have to post the contents of the files in this post. But I don't think we need the entire diagnostics files for this issue.

      From your machine that got it working, can you post the content of ansyslmd.ini file under (default) C:Program FilesANSYS IncShared FilesLicensing

      Now assuming that the content is something like this

      SERVER=portA@server_hostname

      ANSYSLI_SERVERS=portB@server_hostname

      From other machines, open CMD Prompt, then type the following commands

      telnet server_hostname portA

      telnet server_hostname portB

      This has to be able to connect; otherwise, it means clients can't communicate with server via these ports. This will require your IT to help.

      Note that your machine may not have telnet feature turned on. You can turn it on by typing Windows features in "Search Windows" tool box , then look for "Turns Windows features on or off" and launch this. Then, scroll down to the bottom and check "Telnet Client" > OK

      Thanks,

      Win

      This feature is turned on for both the client machine and the hosting machine. Users not on the host machine cannot connect to the server via cmd prompt using those commands.

      I see. This means these portA and portB are blocked. Please consult with your networking IT to help opening these ports.

      Or you can try this on the license server machine if there is only Windows Firewall. You can also try adding Windows Firewall exceptions to the following files

      1. lmgrd.exe

      2. ansyslmd.exe

      3. ansysli_server.exe

      All under (default) C:Program FilesANSYS IncShared FilesLicensingwinx64

      Thanks,

      Win
