SubscriberGreetings everyone,
I'm currently working on modeling a compression test using ANSYS LS-DYNA. Given the rapid compression rate and loading involved, I've opted for the LS-DYNA explicit solver. My inquiry pertains to the modeling of paperboard within the ACP module. Specifically, I need to define the MD (Machine Direction), CD (Cross Direction), and ZD (Thickness Direction) orientations of the paperboard for the compressed structure, and I'm tasked with achieving this using a single ply.
Could someone kindly guide me on accomplishing this within the ACP module? While I've perused various instructional videos, most of them focus on defining multiple plies and a 90-degree orientation, which isn't suitable for my current project.
Your assistance is greatly appreciated!
Warm regards,
Ahmet K. -

Ansys EmployeeHello Ahmet,
You can define the material directions using rosettes (coordinate systems) and Oriented element sets in Ansys Composite Prepost (ACP). See the following course for more information:

Let me know how it goes.
Reno.
