particle filtration simulation

Is there any way to simulate particles (greater than 50 microns) using filters in ansys fluent? Like using mpm or dpm models?

What do you want to find out?

I want to capture the filtration efficiency of a particular filter for removing colloidal particles in water.

Also, I want to capture the particle trajectory and pressure on the filter because of particle tracking.

OK, so you want to see the particles being caught by the filter material? Ie model every last strand and fibre?

I do not want to do the simulation to that extent.

I want to see the effect of cross-flow in self-cleansing of the filter. Can this be simulated in the fluent using dpm model?

Sort of, read up on the porous media model (it's a cell zone condition). There are lots of things we can simulate, and in most cases it's more a question of you understanding the physics of the problem to then apply the software.
