SubscriberHello,
I want to use discrete phase model to simulate particle trajectory in deterministic lateral displacement arrays, it is a 2D model as shown in the following figure. The flow comes from the left hand side inlet, up and down edges are periodic boundaries, and each cylinder surface is wall with reflected boundary condition, but I found that even when I set the diameter of the particle to be larger than the gap of each two cylinders (where the flow goes through), the particle can still goes through. I don't know what is wrong with my setup. Could someone help me?
Thanks.

Ansys EmployeeIf you check the documentation you'll see that DPM tracks a point mass trajectory. Diameter is used solely to work out drag. As it's a point mass we see large particles going through very small gaps.
If you need to model the particle diameter in this way look at the Macro Particle Model.

SubscriberGot it. I will try to look at the Macro Particle Model. Thank you very much.
