  I try to create a new discussion but the site says permission is denied.

  Check the post, if there are lots of symbols it can fail (it's a check for code we're trying to switch off). Also if it's a long question post in shorter sections. We don't like posts being bumped but don't mind you taking several short posts to ask a question.
