Hi, I am new to this platform and ANSYS as a whole. I have been doing some reading and firstly, I wish to know if it is possible to create a pilot node within ANSYS workbench mechanical without necessarily using commands.

Also, please let me know how to create it using commands as well.

I am using ANSYS student 19

      Thanks

A pilot node is an equivalent of using remote points in Mechanical. Please see this section from the help.

Note that you can specify a Pilot Node APDL Name when specifying a remote point.

      Hi SandeepMedikonda,

thanks for your reply. It was helpful.

please could you help me with the commands to create a pilot node using APDL commands.

Finally I have a friction stir welding sim I am working on and I have convergence issues. From the results graphs I have figured out it is a heat convergence given that it is coupled field transient sim. Could you help me with directions on how to resolve the problem.

      Mbawka,

Please see this section from the technology demonstration guide to look into how to create a pilot node using APDL commands?

Please close this thread for this question and open a new discussion for the question on welding. Please explain your problem and provide snapshots of the model, boundary conditions and heat convergence and more importantly the errors you are seeing in your solution output.

      Regards,
      Sandeep
