Point on surface – UDF

Hello I am very new to UDFs, and my coding skills are very sub-par... What would a sample code look like for something like this? For instance, if I had two parallel plates, the bottom of which was moving up and down, how would I track a point (say the x and y points are the same, only z changes) on the bottom wall that is moving up and down? I tried looking through the UDF manual but it's fairly overwhelming to try to find what I am looking for in there. Also, if this post should not be in this thread, I can make a separate post.
      Thanks!

This discussion was created from comments split from: Creating moving surface points for transient simulation.

I'd split a facet off the wall in Fluent and track the values of interest on that facet. Save the UDFs for when you really need them.
