Port taking huge memory

      Hi,

I am a starter of Lumerical and I am having problem about 3D FDTD simulation. The port (called input ) in my simulation takes too much memory as shown in the graph.

I lowered my frequency points to lower than 5, and I put my ports close to each other as possible, but the memory is still big. I need the port to get S-parameters. Is there any way to minimize the memory used by the port?

      Hi Haoxiang,

I have seen that sometimes the memory requirements for mode sources/ports are overestimated. I will ask you to run the simulation as it is if you’re able to. If not, you can try to:

      1. Make the mesh size coarser.
      2. Reduce the size of the port.
      3. If you are using a narrowband source and the field profiles do not change significantly over the wavelengths, then uncheck the frequency dependent profile in the port settings. This will calculate the mode only at central frequency.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

      Regards,
      Amrita
