Predicting decay rates of vibration modes in dB/s after momentary impulse excitation?

Let's say you have a simple modeled object like an evenly tensioned circular membrane. Then let's say you simulate it being struck, say at the center or x mm from the center, via an initial deformation at this point.

Is it possible to get the decay rate of the various vibration modes that will result in dB/s?

Someone on StackExchange suggested this will require fluid-structure interaction analysis, as it must be based on how energy is transmitted from the solid (membrane) to the fluid (air) over time.

Is this correct? Any tips on how this can be done?

      Thanks!
