SubscriberI am trying to use PML wizard set up for a boundary condition in a circular waveguide in an eigenmode problem in HFSS. However, every time I finish the wizard, HFSS collapses and stops working. I think this could be some type of bug since when I do the same for a rectangular surface, the software works fine. Do I need to do any previous step for a circular surface?
In addition, this problem does not happen in previous version (2020R2). I am working on 2023R1.
Thank you very much in advance,
Kind regards,
Pablo

Forum ModeratorHi Pablo,
Thank you for reaching out to the Ansys learning forum.
As the circular waveguide is generally a closed structure, I am wondering why would you need a PML boundary setup. Also, you have mentioned the solution type is Eigenmode. I am assuming the model will be fully covered with the conductor.
Please share the screenshots of your model to help us serve you better.
Best regards,

Forum ModeratorHi Pablo,
Thank you for posting your reply. Your patience on this issue is much appreciated.
I have some comments/recommendations for assigning PML boundary to the faces of circular objects. Please note that you should assign PML boundary manually for true curved objects (as in your case). However, for curved objects with segments you can assign an automatic PML boundary. So you were not able to create PML for 1/4th of the model and not for full model. Kindly go through "Creating PML Boundaries Manually" section on how to create PML manually. Also go through "Guidelines for Assigning PML Boundaries" section of the HFSS help pdf document for better understanding.
Best regards,
Praneeth.
