SubscriberFor the past couple of days I've been trying to get Ansys Discovery (2021) to perform an External Fluid Flow on a modeled Savonius wind turbine. Given there aren't any tutorials for this version, I've been trying to reverse-engineer the sample setup included (the house). I've included a photo of what's happening, it seems to me that no matter what I do, Discovery doesn't seem to acknowledge the body as a solid, and for some reason one of the blades has just gone transparent for no reason. I'm completely out of ideas at this point and need to be able to do this for my Msc project.

Ansys EmployeeHello Alexander Tring
From the image, it looks like the thickness of the blades are not getting captured. If you click on the Size preview tool located under the Fidelity group at the top of the UI, and then hover the cursor on the blade, you can see the maximum size that is getting captured. The maximum size that can be captured is driven by the fidelity settings, the extents of the geometry as well as the graphics card memory. You can try increasing the fidelity by moving the slider to extreme right on the EXPLORE field at the bottom center. If this doesn't capture the blade thickness, try reducing the size of the outer domain and increase the thickness of the blades.
I also noticed that you are using a student license of Discovery, so I would request you to post your questions on Ansys Learning Forum which is a platform dedicated for students to learn Ansys products and seek support.

Boost Ansys Fluent Simulations with AWS
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) helps engineers design products in which the flow of fluid components is a significant challenge. These different use cases often require large complex models to solve on a traditional workstation.
