How can I simulate pure shear in ANSYS?

      Hi,

Please look in the following forum for an answer.

Thank you. But I wonder, puré shear isn't the same as simple shear?

      Hi Lovisa,

Simple shear is a deformation in which parallel planes in a material remain parallel and maintain a constant distance while translating relative to each other.

Pure shear is an example of irrotational strain, in which the body is elongated in one direction while being shortened perpendicularly.

Sorry, I believe the forum link I shared with you shows simple shear instead of pure shear.

For getting a pure shear state, I have shown the boundary conditions below, in which I applied a displacement of 5 mm on perpendicular faces.

I have attached a figure below that shows simple shear and pure shear in ANSYS.
