Miller Testing
SubscriberHello Admin,
I attempted to create a “rough waveguide” structure for my model and planned to add a sidewall angle to the structure, but I am having trouble adding the sidewall angle. I saw other waveguide structures, such as the “Straight waveguide,” that have a sidewall angle feature but without roughness on their sides.
So, I want to ask if there are any methods or ways that I can add a sidewall angle to the “rough waveguide” and/or add a roughness feature to the “straight waveguide” structure?
(I am currently using version Ansys Lumerical 2020 R2.4. I hope this information is helpful.)
Thank you for your help.
Regards,
Miller

Ansys EmployeeHello, I would suggest to update the software to new version.
For side wall angle you can use a polygon Tips for adding sidewall angles to simulation objects – Ansys Optics
On that polygon you can add side wall roughness Tips for adding surface roughness to structures – Ansys Optics.
Thank you

SubscriberHello Devika,
I am considering updating to the latest version of the software and I am wondering if there are any new features or updates that could help me design a sidewall angle for my structure. Is there anything in the latest update that could help me achieve this?
I have received your advice to add a polygon to my structure in order to add sidewall angles, but I am wondering if it is possible to add the sidewall angle directly to the rough waveguide structure. Is this a limitation of the version of Ansys Lumerical that I am using, or is there another reason why I cannot add the sidewall angle directly?
Thank you for your help and I look forward to hearing your reply.
Regards,
Miller

I dont think its possible to add side wall angle to a rough surface.
