I am trying to use RCWA in lumerial to do some simulations. However, I met some problems.

      1. When I try to enable the option of USE TANGENT VECTOR FIELD or the option of report  ANGENT VECTOR FIELD in the the example of Photonic Crystal Slab (RCWA), the program will exit automatically.
      2. If this does not work, how to do the simulation for a system with metal? The number of K vectors will be huge.
      3. if I have a light source with a specific polarization. how can I use the RCWA method to set the polarization? The incident angle should be easy to set, but RCWA always considers s or p polarization.

      thanks.

      Hello,

From the RCWA solver object docs (RCWA Solver - Simulation Object – Ansys Optics):

"The tangent vector field option should only be used with MESH REFINEMENT set to conformal variant 0, 1, or 2."

It looks like you are using staircase mesh refinement, please try changing that to a conformal variant option.

The polarization of the source can't be directly set in RCWA, however any incident polarization can be written in the S/P basis so these results can be used for arbitrary polarizations.
