SubscriberIn 3D charge steady-state and ssca mode, it always has this error, and the simulation will get stuck at some %, after a long time, go error. Refinement limit exceeded for optical generation rate constraint. The mesh is valid but may not be adequately refined. Warning: small element volume detected in mesh (2.02403e-32m3). adjusting PLC vertex precison (0 to disable) and/or PLC edge splitting. How to solve this error? I have already refered the troubleshooting convergence errors in charge, still no use.

Ansys EmployeeThis indicates that this triangle or tetrahedron has one angle is too small. It might mean that the device has thin layers, spheres or cylinders . You can set the cureved objects below the ideal surface. You may also reduce the optical power, or first disable the optical generation and see if the mesh can be created. you may also try to reduce the simulation volume and see if it can improve, or simplify the simulation in 2D.

SubscriberMy structure is a diameter of 15 um,thickness 2 um cylinder. What does the cureved objects below the ideal surface means? Also, should I enable the "split plc edges" ? For the gloabl setting, should I use smaller one ? My structure can't be simplified into 2D

Ansys EmployeeIf you give a screenshot of the device I may suggest a solution. Basically if the cured surface of a cylinder is on a flat surface ideally, it may need very small mesh to resolve the tangent region. you can move down the clyinder a little to make them tough-deep instead of geometrical contact as a line.

SubscriberAlso, if I disable the optical generation rate, why it still have Refinement limit exceeded for optical generation rate constraint ?

SubscriberAlso, there sometime will have this error, adjusting PLC vertex precison (0 to disable) and/or PLC edge splitting.

Ansys EmployeeFrom your other post, I found that you set the triangle quality too high. use min trianlge quality so it will reduce the number of iteration of the mesh.Without optical generation it still has this issue, it means the basic meshing has issues.
