SubscriberHi,
I am trying to do an FEA analysis for a rebar-reinforced FRP plate. My geometry consisting of the plate and other parts is assembled using Solidworks. After importing the geometry, Ansys does not allow me to setup an interaction contact between the rebars and the FRP plate. Does this mean that I have to build the full geometry in SpaceClaim.
Thanks a lot!

Ansys EmployeenBody interaction is available only for Explicit dynamic analysis. nSee help section:n https://ansyshelp.ansys.com/account/secured?returnurl=/Views/Secured/corp/v202/en/wb_sim/ds_Contact.htmlnIf you are doing any other type of analysis, you will have to use other connection options such as contacts , joints etcnNovember 30, 2020 at 7:26 pmBruceYuan
SubscribernThanks for the reply. If I want to analyze this model using static structural analysis, should I use Bond contact type for and rebars and FRP?.November 30, 2020 at 8:27 pmBruceYuan
SubscribernnI have also tried to remove the rebars in my Solidworks model and then import the model into DesignMolder to create line bodys of rebars. When I setup my model in static structural analysis, I cannot create a manual contact between the line bodies (rebars) and FRP blocks. Could you please explain it to me?.Thanks!!nNovember 30, 2020 at 8:48 pmGovindan Nagappan
Ansys EmployeenSee description of different contact types (bonded, no separation etc) here:nYou can select the appropriate contact type as needed for your simulationnYou should be able to define contact between edge(beam) and solid. Set the contact formulation to MPC for beam to solid contact. See help section:nnViewing 4 reply threads- You must be logged in to reply to this topic.
