SubscriberOn a PC running ANSYS that has access to both the Academic Teaching and Academic Research licenses serviced from the same license server, how can access to the Research license be made exclusive? Could access be restricted by user ID or to certain IP's at certain times?

Ansys EmployeeI can think of a couple ways to achieve this.
1. Set user license preferences
Launch User License Preferences v1xx -> Go through all 4 tabs and make sure that you 'disable' the Research licenses on all of them by marking it as '0' (Don't use) , click Apply , then OK. This will save a file in %appdata%ansysv1xxlicensinglicense.preferences.xml , then you can copy and paste this file into all users who should not have access to Research licenses. Note: This is user and version specific.
Downsides of this are that you have to put this file on all users that you don't want them to access the research licenses. Also, users can easily 'reset' (remove) this file by themselves.
2. Use 'options file'
There is FlexNet mechanism to restrict license usage. You can find guides/examples online on how to do this for any software using FlexNet licensing and it'd also apply to ANSYS licensing. Just make sure you put the options file in (default) C:Program FilesANSYS IncShared FilesLicensinglicense_files with the name 'ansyslmd.opt' . This'd allow you to restrict any licenses whether using user ID or IP.
Thanks,
Win
