SubscriberI have designed a turbine with similar characteristics to a wind turbine. I am trying to achieve the following:n1. rotate the turbine from the air that is hitting itn2. Calculate power/torquenI am using Fluent to run the analysisn -

Ansys EmployeeHave a look on here, there are several people doing much the same. VAWT and HAWT may be good key words if turbine returns too many results. Note, you will need a relationship between force on the blades and rotation speed as an input: CFD won't give you all the data without some good boundary conditions. n -

SubscribernYou will need to use dynamic mesh and write a UDF using Define_CG_MOTION or SDOF .. the function would calculate the moment on the turbine and provide the solver with the new rotational speed in the next time step. n

Boost Ansys Fluent Simulations with AWS
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) helps engineers design products in which the flow of fluid components is a significant challenge. These different use cases often require large complex models to solve on a traditional workstation.
