SubscriberHello
I have a customer who tells me that by saving the files as sketchup they are always exported in inches and not in millimeters (unit of measure chosen)
Best Regards

SubscriberHello Robert ,
I tried doing it myself, I did not face the issue. I tried it in 2020 R1.
Can you please confirm which version they are using? Till then I will investigate the probable cause of it.

SubscriberHello Robert ,
I tried exporting the sketchup file and importing it back to SpaceClaim as well as in design modeller, and I did not face the stated issue.
I have tried all the versions of software after 2019R3, what I would want to know is whether they imported (the exported .skp) back to SpaceClaim or to the sketchup tool?
If they did that in Sketchup, can you try importing the file in SpaceClaim, and see if the units are changed?

The customer steps are these:
1) Draw the geometry in SpaceClaim with the unit of measurement in millimeters
2) Save the file in the format sketchup
3) Import the file into sketchup and say that the measurements are all in inches and no more millimetersBest Regards

SubscriberHello Robert ,
Since the issue is after it is imported into Sketchup, I think it is a translation issue with the Sketchup tool. Since the same file when imported in SpaceClaim/Design Modeller does not exhibit the same issues.

Ansys EmployeeRobert If they make a cube in SC that is 25.4mm on all sides, save ask sketchup and import into sketchup, is the size of the model 1in or 25.4in on all sides?
If 1 in, then the file is being saved to the correct size, and the issue may be on Sketchups end...perhaps it is forcing the units to imperial.

SubscriberCharudatta Bandgar Hi
could it be caused by the problem that SpaceClaim exports as a format until 2018 while the customer has Sketchup 2019?-

SubscriberHello Robert ,
It might the reason for the error in translation, although I would like to confirm your hunch.

SubscriberCharudatta Bandgar Hello
Today I will send you a video, if I export for example STL files from spaceclaim and open them with Sketchup it opens them correctly in millimeters, so lost is a problem of export when spacecliam saves the data in Sketchup
Best Regards

SubscriberUpon further tests and it was concluded that it is a SketchUp problem.
Upon double-clicking on the file, it opens in a default environment, which is in inches, not knowing which environment to use.
While if the file is opened inside an environment in mm in SketchUp, it opens it correctly.
