Hi everyone,nnI am tring to use shell181 and apply internal pressure in a given structure using APDL.nIn the shell 181 indications says the follwing: The pressure must be applied directly to the shell, and not via surface elements.nThis means that for apply surface pressure i should use the SFA command instead of SFE, i am litle bit confused on this.nI will apreciate any help.

@pedrocarneironnYou can use SFE commands with SHELL181. See verification example:nVM20 Input Listing (ansys.com)nnHelp doc for shell181 states this: The pressure must be applied directly to the shell, and not via surface elements (SURF)nThis means that you do not have to overlay surface effect elements such as surf154 on top of shell181 to apply pressure loads. (SURF154 can be used to apply pressures on solid elements.)n

Thanks for the answer. n I am trying to use the shell181 element to compare a finite element solution to analytical formulation for toroidal pressure vessel. nI am currently facing some difficulties in obtain the meridional and circumferential stress to compare to the analytical formulations as well as define the correct boundary conditions.n

If you or someone can take a look it will be helpful. nn

I have changed the mesh and print the results in the solution coordinate system and it seems more reasonable now.n
