SubscriberIn the past, I have used ANSYS HFSS to simulate the electromagnetic responses of a split-ring resonator (SRR) with a supplied microwave signal. Recently, I ran an experiment where I was running a SRR that was placed in an external magnetic field created by a couple permanent magnets. As far as I know, I cant create a static magnetic field in HFSS. Does anyone know how I could simulate the SRR electromagnetic response in an external magnetic field? Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Ansys EmployeeHi Andrew,
Thanks for posting your query on Ansys Learning Forum. I would like to know additional information regarding your simulation setup. Are you using any Ferrite Materials in your simulation ? Thanks.

SubscriberThe simulation would contain the SRR with a lumped port supplying the signal. There would also be two rare earth magnets that are ring shaped.
The magnets would be creating a static magnetic field that the SRR sits in. From what I've read, you use Maxwell for static fields, but I also have the SRR with the lumped port. Is there a way to have the magnets in HFSS or maybe simulate the static magnetic field in Maxwell and then somehow import that into the HFSS simulation?

Ansys EmployeeHi Andrew,
Thanks for sharing more details regarding your setup. HFSS only allow assigning magnetic biases to Ferrite materials. To assign non-uniform magnetic bias a setup link can be esatblised to Maxwell magnetostatic steup. However, in my opinion standalone magnet simulation in HFSS or taking its effect from Maxwell is not possible.
Thanks.
