SubscriberI am trying to create a spring element in LSDYNA for a mass spring system. I have done this using a discrete element but I was wondering if there is a way to create the spring without using a discrete element. The reason being I am doing a study on stiffness damping (*DAMPING_PART_STIFFNESS) on a 1DOF system but this card cannot be applied to a discrete element.

Ansys EmployeeYou can use a type 6 beam element, i.e. discrete beam element. Doing a google search for "ls dyna discrete beam" will get you to several online notes on how to use these elements.

SubscriberI specifically cannot use a discrete element, whether that be a spring or a beam. I am wondering if there is a way to do it without using a discrete element.

Boost Ansys Fluent Simulations with AWS
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) helps engineers design products in which the flow of fluid components is a significant challenge. These different use cases often require large complex models to solve on a traditional workstation.
