Static Structure analysis in 2021 not solving and taking much longer than 2018

In this analysis, I'm doing a simple compression of a polymer plug between a compression platens. I used to run the analysis in 18 and it worked very well. For some unknown reason, I'm following the same steps but not getting convergence nor solution. Any suggestions? Please see attached.
Can you write the input files for both the setup and compare what is the difference between the two setups?
