Strange meshing

      Hi

I get some weird behavior, where one of my mesh controls don't take effect, except for some points at regular intervals.

How do I get it to effect the whole face?

What mesh control are you using?

I used a face sizing. The spots are the correct mesh, but what's in between doesn't get effected.

I have switched to cut it up and sweep it instead, but now I have a new prolem.

I'm using number of divisions on a edge, but it doesn't work, and the mesh fails if i set it's behavior to hard, so that's not the way.

There are two parts to this, the two bodies are not connected, that's something that may or may not be an issue in Mechanical.

The grey body thinks the end face is a rectangle (logically it is, it's just a bit bent). If you fix too many edge meshes and it thinks you should have a structured hex mesh it'll fail.  I would suggest looking at the curvature size function and what the min & max sizing is.

I have tried combining the relevant bodies into one part. But now it won't sweep.

How would i do it, any suggestions?

First check goemetry in SpaceClaim or DM for any geometry errors. Make sure that geometry do not have any errors before you go to meshing.

Did you use virtual topology in meshing?

Try to use different sizing for patch confirming tetra.

Try to split the geometry at those edges. Also if you want conformal mesh, make sure that you use share topology option.
