I am working on beam dumps at CERN and are trying to do a submodel. Does anyone have expertise in this? I would like to discuss a few points.

      Hello,

If you have a valid LS-DYNA license, you can go on the Ansys customer portal and find the following knowledge resource on submodeling:

      https://support.ansys.com/KnowledgeResources/Solutions?solutionIdentifier=sol2055690&productName=ANSYS+Mechanical&productFamily=Structural%20Mechanics

There is a presentation by Ozen (Ansys  channel partner) here:

      https://www.ozeninc.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Cowan_OzenEng_AnsysConf2011_DropTestSubmodel.pdf

And a paper on dynalook.com here:

      https://www.dynalook.com/conferences/11th-european-ls-dyna-conference/model-order-reduction/hierarchical-multi-level-optimization-of-crashworthy-structures-using-automatic-generated-submodels/view

You will find more information here:

      https://ftp.lstc.com/anonymous/outgoing/support/FAQ/interface_linking_lsda

Also, have a look at the following keywords in the LS-DYNA user manual Volume I:

      *INTERFACE_COMPONENT_SEGMENT

      *INTERFACE_COMPONENT_FILE

      *INTERFACE_LINKING_SEGMENT

      https://www.lstc.com/download/manuals

      Reno.
