SubscriberHi,
Hi,I want to setup a system coupling interface with temperature data transfer between transient thermal and fluent. A solid body is given a heat flux boundary condition and fluid structure interaction zone is defined. The aim is to transfer temperature on the solid body after each time step to fluent. Fluent will then apply a coolant for the same duration of time. The geometry image is attached. The system coupling setup image is also attached.
When I try to create a data transfer for the fluid structure interaction region, it does not allow me to define temperature as input to the wall in fluent module. The wall does not take any inputs. Any help in this is greatly appreciated. -

Ansys EmployeeHi
To receive the thermal transfer in Fluent: set thermal conditions (at wall receiving temperature) to 'via system coupling'.
I think here in this case you just need one way data transfer i.e. from External Data to Fluent, which will transfer the temperature to Fluent. -

SubscriberHi,
Thank you for the reply. In fluent I have the wall between fluid and solid as coupled walls. Picture attached. I have no option to select the 'via system coupling'. What must I do in this case?
I had another question. My ultimate aim to build a system coupling involving ANSYS explicit and fluent. But in ANSYS explcit I do not see any option to create a 'system coupling region'. This option is available in transient thermal and steady state thermal. Does this mean system coupling does not work with ANSYS explicit?
Thank you for the support.

Ansys EmployeeHi
Please refer Participant Support of System Coupling Capabilities (ansys.com) to know which participants support system coupling.
are you sure that is the face you want to specify that BC? If yes, then you can Slit two-sided wall into two connected wall zones with 'define/boundary-conditions/modify-zones/
slit-face-zone' TUI command. -

SubscriberHi,
The TUI command worked. Thank you.
ANSYS help showed that system coupling does not support ANSYS explicit. However, is there any way to make sucha coupling possible? With user-defined codes? If so could you point me in the right direction.
