Tagging of Edges, Sheet, and Solid Bodies in NX and Ansys Classic

I am trying to understand the persistent tagging of edges, sheets, and solid bodies between NX and Ansys Classic.  I am using NX1965 and I am using Ansys R17 Classic.  I've created a simple block in NX1965 and I've exported both as an IGES file and as a Parasolids file.  Then upon importing them into Ansys R17 Classic I am having a difficult time plotting the model in Ansys and showing that these quantities have maintain persistency.  I've looked into the Component Manager and there are no signs of the named edges, sheets and/or body.

What am I doing wrong?  Or what menu / feature do I need to turn on in Ansys Classic?

      R/  Bill

      Hi Bill,

Neutral file formats will not include extra information such as face taggings from CAD. For transferring the named selections from CAD, you would need a separate CAD connection which is not included with student products, and you should be taking the CAD file directly to APDL.

An alternative could be opening the neutral file in SpaceClaim and then creating named selections (or Groups as it is called in SpaceClaim) This SpaceClaim file can be taken to Ansys Mechanical inside the workbench and used for persistent workflow as long as changes are being done in SpaceClaim. If you prefer APDL over the workbench, you can still connect it to Mechanical Model in the workbench.
