SubscriberHi I found that the temperature monitor in the HEAT solver doesn't record the data in a fluid material. Is that true?
for example, I have a gold nanoparticle on a glass substrate surrounded by air or water. The monitor records the temperature data in glass and gold but not in air or water. Is this true that temperature data in fluid material is not recorded or am I doing something wrong?
Any comments/suggestions are appreciated.

Ansys EmployeeYou are right that the HEAT solver only solves solid materials, where the fluid material uses analytical solution. So no data is recorded in the monitor.

SubscriberHi Thank you for your answer.
So does this mean I can't use HEAT solver to find temp distribution around let's say a gold nanoparticle in water or another fluid material?
Analytical solutions for spherical nanoparticles can be found. But what if there is a complex structure for which an exact analytical solution is not available?
Could you please recommend me an example (if available) for such a problem? Or it would be helpful if such an example can be added in the App gallery.

Ansys EmployeeYou can get temperature distribution for the solid objects but not inside the fluid, as its heat parameters do not support the temperature drops along its path.
The fluid will have the same temperature inside the simulation region, as HEAT only solves temperature for solid objects.
An alternative method you may try (based on my understanding) is, set the bulk fluid to be solid with proper heat parameters, and only apply the fluid as the boundary condition. This will require you to find correct parameters. This method is similar to turn the insulator or actual metal to be semiconductor in CHARGE. This is just my suggestion so you can ignore it as this is not the existing methods.
The support form is mainly for existing methodologies, examples and how to use the software. Please refer this post: Rules & Guidelines ÔÇö Ansys Learning Forum
