Subscriberpower ferrite (or steinmetz equation) is an empirical magnetic loss caculation model under sinusoidal excitation. However, in circumstances like buck, boost, DAB and so on, the flux of magnets shows an triangular wave pattern with a DC bias . Can power ferrite model still be useful in this situation?

Ansys EmployeeIn such situations, the Power Ferrite model cannot capture the magnetization processes satisfactorily. In order to handle magnetic cores under non-sinusoidal and DC-biased conditions and also estimate losses more accurately, advanced magnetic loss models are required. The choice of the appropriate model depends on the specific application and the level of accuracy that is required.

SubscriberThank you very much for your reply. But I noticed that there is a parameter kdc in the material property setting interface, which is used as a correction of losses with DC bias. However, the detailed expression of kdc in power ferrite model isn't provided in user manual…… And I found that this issue has been mentioned by other people on ansys forum. So may I ask for feedback on this issue?
