SubscriberHello, I am currently engaged in simulating a Full- section of a mechanical system involving a press-fit pin and a PCB using the ANSYS Static Structural Solver. After getting some warnings, i am getting error "The solver engine was unable to converge on a solution for the nonlinear problem". can you please help me with this?

Ansys EmployeeIf you are attempting to analyze the actual insertion of the pin, that is always difficult due to the stick slip behavior of the contact. It's much easier to model the pin geometry already in position and resolve the interference with contact.

Ansys EmployeeOh, OK. I was just hoping you didn't need to analyze the insertion process. Generic recommendations to resolve convergence problems with frictional contact are to reduce the contact stiffness, use the unsymmetric solver and insert the pin with a displacement, not a force.
