SubscriberI am trying to calculate deflection and flexural rigidity of a plate fixed on one side and made by bonding 2 different materials. I am getting values of deflections in Structural Analysis but I am not sure which theory ANSYS is using in the black box.
please help.

SubscriberThank you Sir,
But I am not asking about numerical method by which it is calculating solutions but the theory by which it is determining which formulae to use.

SubscriberThe theory of elasticity provides governing equations, which are paired with boundary conditions. Together they describe a solid mechanics problem. The governing equations with boundary conditions can be solved numerically using the Finite Element Method, which is what ANSYS has implemented.
