Hi, if I am running a linear transient analysis under 5G, when do I need to set base excitation to yes? Thanks!

As the name suggests you need to use that if the excitation is provided to the base of your structure. Typically in a vibration test a modal shaker provides base excitation and the accelerometers report the absolute readings. If the excitation is applied to the whole body instead of the base, the resulting motion of any point on the model would be relative to a fixed base, which is not something the accelerometer measures. In such cases a base excitation will accurately represent the loading.
      Regards Ishan.
