Trouble reading layers in geometry

      Hi all,

I am currently trying to model a battery cell in ANSY Fluent but am having trouble with the cell geometry. The geometry looks like a rectangular block but there are many layers within the block.

When importing my geometry model from solidworks, ANSYS does not recognize the different layers. I have also tried importing each layer separately into ANSYS but i have trouble with creating the contacts this way. Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like a very interesting model and application.

Couple of questions to help us better diagnose the problem:

      1. What file format are you using to import the geometry into ANSYS Fluent/Workbench? Are you using the *.x_T Parasolid format, or a neutral format like IGES? Try exporting and importing different formats

      2. What version of SolidWorks  are you using?

      3. What version of ANSYS software are you using?

      4. Are you importing it into ANSYS Workbench (SpaceClaim) first?

      Hello,

What are dimenstions (thickness) of layers?

Can you please insert any image with some more explanation.

      Thanks!

      Hi,

      To answer your questions:

      1. I am using IGES format

      2. solidworks version 2018

      3. Ansys version 18.2

      4. I am importing into ANSYS design modeler

I am thinking it may be easier to just design the whole thing in spaceclaim? I'm just not quite sure how to do that

Attached is a 2D image of the model, the model is in 3D. Each layer is extruded to the same length

      Hi,

This is very easy in SpaceClaim.

Just create a sketch and use Pull command.

You can have look at following tutorials.
