Turbulent viscosity contour problems

      Dear All,

I have been working on a ansys fluent model of 2D airfoil. To compare the different turbulence models i have been trying to acquire a variety of contours but have been running into problems with this. Especcialy the turbulent viscosity contour has been giving me strange results. Does anyone know what might be the problem with my simulation?

      Kind regards,
      Lucas

Can you do a mesh display, walls only and post the result?

        Dear Rob,

Did my previous response meet your request?

      Dear Rob,

When doing a mesh display of the walls i get a vertical line. I figured it is the trailing edge of the airfoil since when i add the airfoil into the display without moving the camera this is the part which it opens on.

      Thanks for helping out rob!
      Kind regards,
      Lucas

Did you form a multibody part (DesignModeler) or use share topology (SpaceClaim) before meshing? I can't see a wall & wall:shadow pair so it's not quite as easy to fix as it could be.

I dont think i used any of those things since i have not heard of them before. I imported the airfoil using the 3D curve option in the geometry application. is there a better way?

That bit is OK, it's how you formed the outer region that's probably an issue. Have a look at the geometry tool tutorials, you need to ensure the outer region is continuous to avoid blocking the flow.

Could you kindly provide me with the specific website you are referring to?

https://ansyshelp.ansys.com/account/secured?returnurl=/Views/Secured/main_page.html   You'll need to launch Help from within an Ansys product to get a token (cookie) to then use the link.
