Two different volume flow rate calculators avaliable

Hi,   When clicking a surface and selecting to monitor some kind of value we notice that there are two lines that say volume flow rate. What is the distinct difference between these? They don't give the same result, unfortunately. Attached are two images showing this.   BR Klas

      Hello Klas Johansson

Usually, you will find that the 'Location Type' is different.
You can view this by Right-clicking on the calculator as shown in below image.

Refer attached images for an example on different location type.

Subashni , In this case, I have used the same locators. In the first case I have selected one of the volume flow rate options in the menu and in the second monitor the other volume flow rate is selected. In this case on an outlet.

      Hello Klas Johansson

I'm sorry but I'm not sure if I understand your query.

You can compare the calculators as I have mentioned in my previous comment and cross-check if they are identical.

If you have assigned the calculators, one at the inlet and the other at the outlet there may be variations in the value depending on the model and the fidelity.

If you think that the results are unusual could you please elaborate and also share the model so that I can investigate from my end.

      Hi,

Ok, ill try to rephrase. Looking at the first image i added to the post. I have circled (in blue) the volume flow rate two times. As it appears two times in that list of selectable items.

The second image shows the outcome from these two volume flow rates on the exact same surface (outlet in this case). They give very different results as you can see.

      More clear?

      Hello Klas Johansson

Sorry for the delay in response.
As I mentioned in my earlier comment, the difference may be due to the difference in the Location Type chosen in the calculator.
One is 'Surface Plane' and the other is 'Face'.

Although in practicality the value must be the same, the difference may be due to the way the result is calculated by the calculator.

I will have to confirm this from the development team. I will get back to you as soon as I hear from them.

      Hello Klas Johansson

Like I mentioned in my previous comment, the value should practically be the same for 'Surface Plane' and 'Face' location type on the boundary face. I consulted my team, enquiring the reason for a difference in value.

From what I gather from the discussions with my team is that this is an issue with the way Discovery Live calculates the results for the Calculator. A ticket shall be raised for improvement on this.

I will share with you the bug/enhancement number soon.
