SubscriberHello everyone, I did a 2-D plane stress spur gear analysis in the static structural module. The resultant contact and bending stresses make sense when I compare them with AGMA standard calculations but the problem is that maximum contact stress occurs in two different points, instead of a peak stress point. What could be the reason behind this problem other than geometry? I tried to change my geometry but it did not fix it. By the way, when I'm using bigger mesh sizes, max contact stress occurs on a single point as it should be but once I get the small mesh sizes (according to my mesh convergence study), it becomes two different points for max contact stress again.

Boost Ansys Fluent Simulations with AWS
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) helps engineers design products in which the flow of fluid components is a significant challenge. These different use cases often require large complex models to solve on a traditional workstation. Click here to join this event to learn how to leverage Ansys Fluids on the cloud, thanks to Ansys Gateway powered by AWS.
