UDF for volumetric heat generation in nuclear fuel rod

      Hello,

      Volumetric heat generation in a nuclear fuel rod can be written as q'''(z)= q'''_max*sin(pi*z/H), where q'''_max and H are constant. Volumetric heat generation(source/internal heat generation) only varies along the axial (z) direction. So I am writing udf for heat generation as follows,

      Am I in the right direction? Here I am using DEFINE_SOURCE macros. I don't think I need to use DEFINE_PROFILE macros as I am not applying a heat source on the wall.

      Do you want to apply that source in the cell zone? If yes: use DEFINE_SOURCE. 

      Actually UDF is not required at all as you can do all that using Fluent Expressions. (espcially you are not linearizing anything).

      Thank you for your reply. So, are you saying that an expression like the one below will do my job for volumetric heat generation?

      source = 30400000[W /m^3]*sin(3.1416*z /3.5[m])
