Subscriberhello,
I have a model using different types of steel and I want to know what the unity check is of these different types of materials, meaning that I want to create a user defined result using the elemental mean von Mises stress divided by the tensile yield strength of the material?
so expression will be something like: = SEQV / (Tensile Yield Strength)
with setting the properties:
display option: elemental mean
Is there an expression possible for retrieving the Tensile Yield Strength of the material?

SubscriberANSYS has already done this for you.
In Mechanical, with the Solution branch selected, the Context Menu is Solution and there is a Toolbox button. Under that is a Stress Tool. Once you insert a Stress tool into your results, you can configure it for Max Tensile Stress which will compare the Von MIses Equivalent Stress to the Tensile Yield Strength of the material, and the Safety Factor plot will do the equation you want.

SubscriberHi Peter, when I attempt this I cannot use the elemental mean integration method. Am I doing something wrong or must this be done via a UDR? Or something similar. Thanks.

SubscriberOn a stress plot, you can get element mean by selecting Unaveraged on the Integration Point Result, but that option doesn't show on the Safety Factor plot. I guess you have to use a User Defined Result.

SubscriberThanks for the reply. Would you know how to pull through Tensile yield in to a UDR? Perhaps this needs to be scripted.
