I am carrying out finite element analysis of the weld neck flange in ANSYS Mechanical 2020 R1. Please can you guide me on where to apply the zero displacement (fixed or support) boundary condition?
Is it right to apply the fixed/support boundary condition to the flange face? If not, kindly advise on where it is appropriate for application.
My thought is to apply it on the flange face since it will be bolted in service and expected to be rigid, while I apply the load to the internals of the flange for the nodal displacement.
