SubscriberDear all,
I am trying to do an analysis of a weldment connecting a plate and a stiffner. I want change the size of the weldments (for two different types of welding) and plot the resulting stress generated in the weldment. The plate is rigidly fixed.
My question is how can I can simulate the situation? Do I need to model the weldments separately in cad ? or is there any other efficient way in ansys mechanical?
The image of the model is attached below.

SubscriberYou need to model the weld fillets in CAD.

SubscriberAlso be aware that the welds in a fea model can introduce singularities - there are different techniques to treat that and work around it.
