When a structure is in equilibrium, it is at rest with all the forces and moments acting on it. In other words, the structure has no acceleration due to the external forces and moments. The forces and moments are in balance. Hope this helps!

A simple example is the tug-of-war game. When players on both the teams apply a net force on the rope that is equal in magnitude, but opposite in direction (since the two teams pull in opposite directions), the rope does not move and is in a state of equilibrium.
