Hi! Could someone explain what a viscoelastic material is and how does it behave? Thank you for your help!

Viscoelasticity is a combination of elasticity and viscosity. Viscoelastic material exhibits both elastic property and time dependent stress-strain response. Typical examples of viscoelastic materials are bio-materials, for example, tissue, blood vessel and so on.

Hello, Just to add to this, corn starch is a great example of viscous material, if you mix it with water and then stir it, it is very difficult to stir fast because of the high resistance. However, if you stir very slowly, then the resistance becomes much smaller. You can think of viscoelasticity as a spring plus a "corn-starch" like behavior.

      Thank you
