What periodic boundary conditions that been imposed by the Material Designer?

      Hi ANSYS Specialists,

I have managed to build a cubic RVE in Material Designer, where I have extracted a complete Mechanical moduli; E, G ,Nu.

Now, I would like to build another a model validation using workbench but honestly, having no idea what periodic boundary conditions that been imposed by the Material Designer. I have come across such an article (attached) where they have done similar validation but they have managed to impose [Displacement and loads]. However, I am planning to do impose only Displacements in order to calculate for the engineering moduli.

Any help would be much more appreciated. Many thanks. Layth

Hi Layth,nPeriodic boundary condition in material designer is the same as linear periodic boundary in Mechanical. Take a look at this chapter of Mechanical User' Guide. https://ansyshelp.ansys.com/account/secured?returnurl=/Views/Secured/corp/v202/en/wb_sim/ds_Symmetry_Region.html%23ds_linear_periodic. For example, if you calculating tensile Z, material designer will apply periodic boundary conditions in x and y directions, assuming x and y directions are infinitely long.nKainn
