SubscriberHi
I have developed a beam element model of a modular building. I created one module in Spaceclaim and copied it (linear pattern command), to create a structure 6 modules wide and 5 storey high, as shown in the snipper below. For some reason when i brought the model into Mechanical the floor of each module was duplicated,i.e. two copies of each floor was generated as shown in the tree menu snippet below.
I have overcome this issue by simply suppressing the extra shell elements, so the model is working, but i would like to understand how this happened.
If anyone had a similar experience i would appreciate any advice.

Ansys EmployeeDoes the duplicate only show up in Mechanical, ie. no duplicate in SpaceClaim? Could you try this: 1, select all surface and beam bodies (use box selection, not selecting from the tree!), 2 Copy (ctrl C) and paste (ctrl V) to a new design, 3 transfer that new design into Mechanical and see if you still have duplicates. This will clear all the pattern relationships, and we can decide if that's what caused the duplicate.nFebruary 19, 2021 at 5:47 pmMickMack
SubscriberYes the duplication only appears in Mechanical. I have included two snippets below to demonstrate this, the first shows the surface component in Spaceclaim, and the second shows a duplicate in Mechanical.nnnI also attempted to copy and paste the model into a new spaceclaim design but it did not work and only the surfaces appeared in the new design.nn
