Ansys EmployeePlease check https://ansyshelp.ansys.com/account/Secured?returnurl=/Views/Secured/corp/v232/en/ans_str/Hlp_G_STRUNST.html for comparison between nonlinear stabilization and arc length method, as arc length method has some limitations, it is not available for everyone.

SubscriberThank you Aniket. The reference has been really interesting. However, my question was why the arc-length method can only be activated by ADPL instead of using Non Linear Controls Menu. Probably you could transfer this user's need to developers. Thanks again.

Ansys EmployeeSure I will relay your need to dev team, and they can look into it further, but as I mentioned earlier, arc length method has some limitations for types of analyses that are most commonly used, and we might not want users switching to it easily unless they are expert users and fully aware of the limitations.

SubscriberThank you. I would appreciate development team would take into account the user's needs. However, I'm surprised by your additional comments because it seems like you're mixing user-friendly software with user's skills (nonlinear analysis skills doesn't mean APDL use). All methods have limitations and many softwares such as Abaqus or Femap have no problem providing users with easy access to the arc length method.
